APPRENTICE CHALLENGE WIN
Congratulations to our team of Year 5 and 6 pupils who recently came joint 1st in the 'Apprentice Challenge', an event held at Wellington High School. The team demonstrated excellent initiative, team work and enterprise to earn their first place position in the event, and we at Cloverlea are very proud of them. Well done Cameron, James and Lily from Year 6 and Adam, Anisa and Sophia from Year 5. Who knows, maybe we'll see you on the real 'Apprentice' one day!
The 'Forthcoming Events' section of the webiste has been updated with major dates for the diary for the current school year, including residential trips, class assemblies for parents and PTA events.

WELCOME BACK
We hope you have had an enjoyable summer.
As another academic year begins at Cloverlea there have been a lot of exciting changes around school, with many of the teachers now working with a different year group. We will be updating certain sections of the website (e.g. the 'Our Classes' and the 'About Us' section) in light of these changes, but please just bear with us in the meantime.
END OF TERM NOTICES
We've had another busy half term. Check out the Recent Events section of our website. You'll find information and pictures from the Rotary Dance competition, this year's Red Nose Day, our Easter celebrations and
The Forthcoming events page has also been updated for next term, including dates for class residential trips and Summer term PTA events.
Finally, a quick reminder that next half term contains a number of bank holiday and INSET days. Please check this year's Holiday List for details.
NATURE AREA MORNING
Thanks to all parents, staff and children who turned out in great numbers for our last nature area volunteeer morning held on Saturday 5th March 2011. A huge amount of tidying and maintenance work was carried out in readiness for the spring growth spurt. It was a major achievement to remove all of the brambles from the old chain link fence at the front of the nature area. Well done to everyone involved.
NETBALL CLUB
Here is a picture of this year’s Netball Club.
We have been meeting on a Tuesday after school to practice our skills with Mrs Brogan. Recently, Maia’s Mum made a beautiful netball cake for us all to share. Thank you Mrs Thomson!
CAROL CONCERT
We held our carol concert at Christchurch again this year. It was lovely to see so many parents and relatives at the church supporting us. As always the children had worked hard to learn the carols and songs, and we hope you enjoyed their singing along with the wonderful dancing from some of our younger children. Special thanks go to all the parent volunteers that helped walk the children to and from the church that afternoon.
SEVERE WEATHER (1.12.10)
Once again we are experiencing very cold conditions with a fair amount of snow. The school will do everything possible to keep open. The main factor that we have to worry about is: Do we have enough staff in school to safely supervise the children?
If, for any reason, the school has to close, parents will be informed by text message and e-mail (via the new 'Teachers2Parents' messaging system). Messages will also be left on this web page and the school recorded phone message. We shall also inform the local radio station Galaxy102 who will broadcast a list of school closures.
HAPPY HARVEST
Many thanks for the donations to the collection at the end of our recent Harvest assembly. The amount donated was £103.10. This will be sent to the 'Shelter' charity working with homeless people in Manchester. For more information about our 'Harvest around the World' assembly please see our School events pages.
JEANS FOR GENES
Our recent 'Jeans for Genes' day was a huge success. We raised £216.50 in total.
HEADS UP FOR CHRISTMAS
The PTA have organised a link with Amazon that could raise money for us this Christmas and beyond. If you're planning on buying anything through the Amazon website, then log on to www.amazon.cloverlea.org.uk and a percentage of the money you spend will go straight into our PTA account to spend on resources for the school.
