The children enjoyed making an automata linked to the theme of shops.

The children Experimented with a range of cams, creating a design for an automata toy based on a choice of cam to create a desired movement. They went on to explore how to make things move at the same time. They practised measuring, marking and checking the accuracy of the pieces they required using a ruler and scissors.
The children enjoyed assembling the components, trying to accurately make a stable frame. They understood that for the frame to function effectively, the components must be cut accurately and the joints of the frame secured at right angles.

The children used macrophotography and the work of Edward Weston to create abstract photographic art as a part of their art.
