The day started with some activities to familiarise the children with the Lego and programming software. Then, the children were taught how to make a Lego fairground ride with a motor which turns the carousel using a gear combination. The children then wrote algorithms using the WeDo 2.0 APP to control their ride and had the opportunity to upgrade/improve the carousel with their own creative Lego designs.
In the afternoon, the children built a lion. They programmed the Lion with movement, sound and backgrounds. The children learned about gears, simple algorithms to control their models and practical problem solving skills. Children were also given the opportunity to use the Lego WeDo 2.0 motion sensor. The children learned so much in a short space of time and really enjoyed the day.
