Inspiring children to care, learn and achieve

April 20th

Good afternoon Year 4,

How are you? Well, I hope, and enjoying the sunshine. I don't remember the weather in April being this lovely for a very long time.

I was at school last week looking after the key workers' children who needed to attend. We had fun, but it's not the same without all of you there. While I was at work, my children attended their school, so I don't have as much news as such this week, as we were busy at school.

My husband (out of boredom, I think) has discovered that his culinary talents extend further than cooking over charcoal a couple of times a year. We were treated to a really lovely paella yesterday, which the boys devoured rather quickly.

Sebastian has finally realised that it's Easter time rather than Christmas and is dressing more suitably for the season, although he has taken to calling me 'my lady' and I have no idea why.

Last week, I gave Henry the job of finding that day's Joe Wicks workout and putting it on the TV. While we were doing it, I was thinking 'Where's his plaster cast?' and 'This is really hard for a children's workout. My abs are killing me.' It wasn't until the end that we realised that Henry had clicked on the wrong option and we'd done a full-on Hiit workout. Still aching now.

We're continuing with our running.  Josh and Henry are now running 5km in around 29 minutes - down from 33 when we first started. I'm really pleased for them and proud of their determination.

The boys tried out the new BBC Bitesize lessons this morning, which went really well and they enjoyed them. Have you had a look?

I've heard from lots of you and I've uploaded more photos on to the 'Year 4 At Home' section of our home learning page. Mia has been learning cartoon drawing by watching Pete McKee on YouTube. Have a look at Mia's work. It's fabulous. Ethan's made an excellent model of the digestive system as part of the science Chilli Challenges. Well done Ethan. Carys sent me a lovely video of her English home learning.

Iris has been busy over the Easter holidays making Beeswax wraps, with all profits going to charity. She's sold packs to her neighbours, family, and class members - so far she's raised £40 pounds for Greenpeace, and has more orders coming in! What a lovely initiative Iris. Alice has been enjoying painting, particularly following The Paint Republic video classes.

Please do take a look at the photos and videos and keep them coming in to me.

I hope you enjoyed the video the staff made for you. We meant every word.

I'll write again next week and hope to hear from you in the meantime - info@cloverlea.org.uk or tweet @Cloverlea1917.

Take Care,

Mrs Rickels x
