Meerkat Madness!
A very special parcel arrived addressed to Year 1! Inside was Sunny the meerkat from the story 'Meerkat Mail'! We enjoyed reading the story so much, that we decided to find out more about meerkats. Finally, we made our own meerkat books which we are very proud of!
Colours of the Rainbow!
In art, have been learning about colours. First we made some colourful collages. Then we learnt about primary colours and made some caring hearts in the style of the artist Piet Mondrian. Next we explored what happens when we mix primary colours. We are looking forward to more colour mixing!
The Lonely Beast
We have enjoyed reading a story called 'The Lonely Beast' by Chris Judge. We thought of adjectives and sentences to describe the Lonely Beast. We also worked together to make our own story plans which we used to retell the story. Finally, we looked for verbs in the story and then wrote our own sentences using them.
Autumn Days!
We have been learning about autumnal changes. We went on a walk around the school grounds to look for signs of autumn. We have chosen a special tree outside our classroom, which we will observe each season. Finally, we had fun back in the classroom with different autumn activities.
Religious Education
In RE we have started to learn about Christianity. We explored different Christian symbols and artefacts.
Our First French Lesson
We really enjoyed our first French lesson and are looking forward to learning more vocabulary.
Celebrating World Mental Health Day
We all wore yellow or bright clothing. We enjoyed joining in the 'Happy Dance'. We talked about what makes us happy and how we can make other people happy. We also made some happy bunting for our classroom. Watch out for our 'Feeling Happy' display at the school gate!
