Reading books should be in school every day as part of the morning ERIC (Everyone Reading in Class) routine.
A teacher/TA will listen to your child read on a fortnightly basis during Guided and 1:1 reading. At home, please continue to write comments in their reading diaries to facilitate communication between home and school regarding your child’s reading.
Homework will be issued digitally every Friday.
Spellings and times tables will be tested every Friday in school.
The aim is to know your multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables up to 12 x 12.
During the Autumn Term, our PE days will be Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please come to school in your PE kits on those days. Swimming lessons commence in November.
In the first half term we are focusing on Egyptian Cinderella by Shirley Climlo. During this unit, we'll be convering a lot of literacy skills such as: comparing traditional stories; describing different Egyptian gods and goddesses; developing inference skills; writing Rhodipis’s diary; creating text messages from the Pharaoh; making a story map; acting out Pharaoh's noisy journey; joining in a class debate about the ending of the story; preparing a drama performance; drafting and editing a new story and presenting and illustrating a piece of writing.
We'll then move on to focusing on Aesop's Fables. We'll do lots of work over 3 weeks, with the final outcome being that we'll write our own fabulous fables.
