Good morning Year 6! SATs week is over! I hope you enjoyed the silly SATs if you participated in them – I really enjoyed seeing all of your photos that your parents sent in to me. Well done for providing such brilliant answers too.
I hope you are all still finding lots to do during these days at home…maybe you are getting a bit used to things now? I’m continuing to decorate while I have the extra time at home which is one positive. We have now completed the living room and two bedrooms and the house is beginning to look a lot nicer and feel a lot more like ours.
Your tasks for today are as follows…
Continue to spend about 10 minutes working on your times tables on TTRS or hit the button in order to keep your fluency with them up – you don’t want to be going to secondary school without your knowledge of these!
Your main maths task today is to complete the challenges that I have linked below. They begin easy and get progressively harder as you work through them like the previous ones. As I said previously, we have done lots of work on solving problems like this during our time together in Year 6 and I know you guys love solving challenges. I hope you still do and that you enjoy this maths work today. As always, read each question carefully so you answer exactly what it is asking.
For your English task today, complete the reading lesson I have linked below. The lesson includes extracts from Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and then activities to complete based on these.
Well-being: create an obstacle course
To keep your minds healthy and positive, I will also be providing you with a well-being activity to do daily. For today’s well-being activity, create an obstacle course in your garden and challenge your family members to beat you at completing a lap or two!
Your topic tasks for this week…As you had your silly SATs tests to complete this week, as well as your daily maths, English and wellbeing activities, I will not be providing any new chilli challenges until next week. If you would like more activities to keep you entertained though, have a look at the following links below. There are lots of topics for you to choose from and work independently on an area of your own interest. Let me know if you get stuck into any new learning or find a topic of particular interest.
Well done to everyone that sent in an entry for the Year 6 Bake Off competition. All of the photos I received via email looked amazing and I wish I could taste a little (or big!) slice of each one - that would be a fantastic part of the job I have sent the PowerPoint below to school staff to judge and will let you know the winners on Monday. I think you have all done amazingly well though, and should all be very proud of yourselves! I didn’t know we had such amazing bakers in Year 6!
I hope you are all well and happy, and that you have a wonderful weekend with your families.
