Monday 27th April 2020
Good morning Year 6! I hope you are all well and that you’ve had a good weekend. Not sure if you feel the same, but I think the weekends don’t really feel like weekends at the moment! I keep forgetting what day of the week it is! Hopefully things will go back to normal soon though, and remember that although it is difficult at the moment, it is to keep us all as safe as possible.
As you know, I’ve been busy moving house – we are in the new house now and although the move was so tiring, I am so glad to be in! I’m also very pleased to have internet back – I felt like I was back to when I was your age and lived without it!
Did you find all of the fruit names in the sentences I posted last Friday? If not, have a go before looking at the answers below! If you did then see how well you have done by checking the link below to see the answers. Hope you enjoyed it!
Please remember to keep in touch via the school twitter page or by emailing me to show us what you are up to at home.
Your tasks for today are as follows…
Maths: multi-step addition and subtraction problems
Continue to spend about 10 minutes working on your times tables on TTRS or hit the button in order to keep them fluent and up to the speeds and accuracy we have worked so hard to achieve.
After that, use the link below to find today’s lesson on multi-step addition and subtraction problems. Remember that these problems often need you to complete more than one calculation – make sure you answer the question asked. Work through the examples and then solve the questions on the pdf worksheet. When you get onto the worksheet, the questions are given in order of ease (one star in top left corner are the easiest, three stars in the top left corner at the hardest). The answers are provided for you to self-mark once you have finished.
English: spellings and punctuation
Continue to work on your spellings as needed.
For today’s main English task, follow the link below to work through the exercises on punctuation and paragraphing.
Well-being: starting secondary school feelings
To keep your minds healthy and positive, I will also be providing you with a well-being activity to do daily. For today’s well-being activity, follow the link below to find out all about starting secondary school. Even with everything else going on in the world at the moment, I’m sure you all still have lots of questions and thoughts about starting secondary school. I have been in contact with some of the secondary schools that many of you are going to while Cloverlea has been closed, and I will continue to do so over the next few weeks.
Your topic tasks for this week…
I will get a new chilli challenge task sheet to you over the next few days which will provide you with topic tasks for the next two weeks. While I finish completing that, here is a topic task for you to complete today while you wait…
Use a mobile phone or camera to take a photo of a scene in your garden, home or out-and-about on your daily walk. Then, draw the image you have photographed and colour/paint it. I’d love to see some examples of your photos and drawings.
I hope you are all keeping busy at home to fight off the boredom and that you are all enjoying spending lots of time with your families. Stay safe and well.
