Monday 30th March 2020

Hi Year 6!

I hope you all had a good weekend indoors and that you are finding lots to keep yourself occupied so that you aren’t too bored! Today should be the start of your Easter holiday – I’m sure lots of you had holidays booked or activities planned that you are no longer able to do. It is such a shame, but remember each new day is one day closer of getting back to normal! I had a trip planned to visit lots of the cities in Italy and obviously cannot go. However, remember that we will be able to do all of those things we had planned in the future and things will get better!

As it should be the Easter holidays now, please don’t feel that you have to do the work during these next two weeks. As I said on Friday, it has been a really busy term since Christmas and you have all worked so hard. Therefore, you do need to have a break! I am uploading work for what should have been the school holiday to give you structure and things to do if you want to. Please keep in touch with us via the school twitter page and show us what you are up to at home (school/work related and anything else!). I loved receiving the photo of Rhys' WW2 battlefield (see the image below) - great effort Rhys, well done!

Your tasks for today are as follows…

Maths: ratio

Continue to spend about 10 minutes working on your times tables on TTRS or hit the button in order to keep your fluency with them up.

We will be working on ratio this week which I know is a topic many of you enjoy! After your times tables, please complete the first ratio lesson which I have linked below. Answers are also provided for you to self-mark once you have finished. If you need any guidance with this lesson, please follow the link below and watch the video that corresponds to today’s lesson (week 1 lesson 1).

English: spellings

Have a look at the spellings sheets I gave you for homework on our last week in school – I have added the links below just in case you have misplaced them since then. Continue to work on your spellings as needed. If you had lots of the Year 3/4 words that you needed to work on, choose another 12 of them and try and learn them throughout the day. If you now know all of these, complete the same task as last Monday with the Year 5/6 words (ask a parent or older sibling to test you on the words and then learn up to 12 per day of the ones you are unsure of).

Remember to make sure you also know the meanings of these words so that you are able to use them in your writing and understand them when reading. If there are any words you are unsure of, please look them up to check their meaning.

Well-being: Harry Potter yoga

To keep your minds healthy and positive, I will also be providing you with a well-being activity to do daily. For today’s well-being activity, have a go at the Harry Potter yoga session I have linked below.

Your topic tasks for this week…

Keep working on your chilli challenges over the Easter break too if you want activities to do and don’t forget to keep up with Joe Wicks (9am on his youtube channel) and Oti Mabuse  (11.30am on her youtube channel) if you can. Keeping active and healthy will be the best way to fight off the virus.

I saw this and it made me laugh – I thought you guys would enjoy it...!

Mr Legoman is keeping safe during the coronavirus...I hope you all are too.
