Inspiring children to care, learn and achieve

Monday 6th July 2020

Monday 6th July 2020

Hello Year 6. I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and that you are ready for a new week of learning.

Your tasks for today are as follows…

Maths: solving problems involving ratio

Continue to spend about 10 minutes each day working on your times tables on TTRS or hit the button in order to keep them fluent and up to the speeds and accuracy we have worked so hard to achieve.

After that, use the link below to find today’s lesson on ratio. As usual, read through the instructions and watch the videos, and then complete the activities provided. The answers are linked at the bottom of the page for you to mark your work once you have finished.

English: creating a leaflet

For today’s English task, follow the link below to work through the exercises on creating a leaflet and using semi-colons within your writing.

Well-being: listen to the sixth chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone read by Jamie Parker and the Broadway cast

For today’s well-being activity, have a listen to the sixth chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone read by Jamie Parker (an actor who played Harry Potter in the West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and the Broadway cast. This chapter is where Harry Potter takes his magical journey to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Prepare for spells, toads and chocolate frogs! You do have to sign up to the website, but ask a parent to help you if need be. It can be so relaxing listening to a story – I hope you enjoy!

If you fancy a challenge, have a go at the chapter challenges after you have listened to the sixth chapter being read.

German: days, months and time

Your additional lesson today is German. When I told you earlier in the year that I learnt German at my secondary school, lots of you asked me to teach you some and I said I would after SATs… Unfortunately, that hasn’t been possible but I have found a way for you to learn some anyway!

Follow the link below to learn the days and months in German, and how to tell the time. Then complete the quizzes and see if you can answer correctly.

Viel Glück!

Have a great day of home learning!
