Cloverlea was delighted to receive a visit from the Google Expeditions project on Monday 19th December. The purpose of the visit was to demonstrate their new virtual reality app designed to allow children (and adults) to explore the world and space through a mobile phone device attached to a cardboard virtual reality headset (Known as a Google Cardboard).
Year 1 and 2 went first and spent half and hour exploring the undersea world of the 'Ocean Safari'. Then it was the turn of Years 3 and 4 who went on a virtual journey to the classical world of Ancient Rome. Finally, it was the turn of Year 5 and 6 who explored the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia.
Special thanks to Paul from the Google team who came to set up and supervise the demonstrations. Well done to the teaching staff for guiding the children through the expeditions after just a ten minute briefing from Paul before the children came to school.
I think it is fair to say that the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience (certainly judging from the cries of delight that came out of the hall all morning).
