Welcome to Year 1 with Mrs Harris

Hello and a warm welcome to the Year 1 class page! 

We are looking forward to an exciting year full of learning and experiences.     

We are excited to begin this new chapter with your children as they transition from Reception into Key Stage 1. This is a time of incredible growth—academically, socially, and emotionally. Both Mrs Harris and Mrs Perkin (our KS1 teaching assistant) are here to support them on their journey. 

In Year 1, we build on the strong foundations laid in the Early Years, while gently introducing new routines and learning experiences. We understand that this transition can feel big for some children, so we place a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing to help the children to feel safe, confident, and happy in their new environment.

Our classroom is a nurturing space where children are encouraged to express themselves, build friendships, and develop resilience. We believe that when children feel emotionally secure, they are better able to thrive and enjoy their learning.

Throughout the year, we will be exploring exciting topics, developing key skills in reading, writing, and maths, and celebrating each child’s unique journey. At the same time, we will be continuing to foster creativity, independence, and a love of learning.
