Our vision
At Cloverlea Primary School, our Early Years Foundation Stage is the foundation of everything that follows. We believe that the earliest experiences a child has in Nursery and Reception are pivotal in shaping not only their academic journey, but their confidence, curiosity and character for life.
Our vision is to provide a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating environment where every child feels safe, valued and empowered to succeed. We are committed to developing happy, confident and independent learners who are eager to explore, question and make sense of the world around them.
Through a carefully designed, play-based curriculum, we place children’s interests, development and wellbeing at the centre of all we do. We recognise that each child is unique, and we use high-quality interactions, continuous assessment and responsive planning to ensure learning is personalised and purposeful. Children are supported to build strong foundations across all areas of the EYFS, with particular emphasis on communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, and physical development.
We believe that meaningful learning happens through rich experiences, both indoors and outdoors, where children are encouraged to investigate, create, collaborate and take risks in a safe and supportive environment. Our skilled practitioners provide thoughtful guidance and challenge, ensuring that children develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for the next stage of their education and beyond.
Partnership with families is central to our approach. We work closely with parents and carers, recognising them as a child’s first and most important educators. Together, we build a shared understanding of each child’s development, ensuring consistency, support and ambition.
By the end of Reception, our aim is for every child to leave the EYFS as a curious and motivated learner, equipped with strong foundations and a lifelong love of learning. We strive to ensure that every child at Cloverlea experiences an Early Years journey that is rich, memorable and transformative.
