English: This term we will be learning about Myths and Legends. We will read a range of texts such as The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. Our main texts will be: Can You Catch A Mermaid?, by Jane Ray; Beowulf, retold by Michael Morpurgo and
The Seal Children, by Jackie Morris.
The pupils will fine tune their report writing skills using The Storm Unicorn by Pie Corbett and they will also enjoy writing their own performance poems. The text we will use for inspiration for their poems is Poems to Peform:A Classic Collection, chosen by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Clare Melinksy.
Maths - National Curriculum coverage. Please encourage the pupils to use their TT Rockstars accounts every day to improve rapid recall of multiplication and division facts.
Science - Living Things and Their Habitats.
History - Ancient Egyptians
PE - Mondays with AJ from Altrincham Football Club and Thursday PE and sports hub. Thursdays is a dance unit connected to their history topic of Ancient Egypt. The pupils will be given plenty of opportunities to be creative and apply their thinking and skills to both games and dance.
Computing - Espresso Coding, Scratch and Tellegami presentations about the residential to Grasmere.
During the spring term, we have 2 special events: the Y4 residential to Grasmere in April and the Y3/4 spring production. We'll keep you posted with further details. The children will also enjoy a full day of STEM Lego workshop after half term.
