L. S Lowry
This half term the children have enjoyed looking at the work of L.S Lowry. We studied the ways in which he created the people, like matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs. The children looked closely at the buildings, paying close attention to their uniformed nature.
Terrific Timperley
We began this half term with a visit from Barnaby Bear. He explained how he enjoyed travelling but had never been to visit Timperley before.
The children began their Geography topic by thinking about all the things they already new about Timperley; from parks and churches to the names of the different shops in the village. Next, the children enjoyed exploring google maps using the iPads. They typed in the address of the school and explored the local area, looking at their homes and their locations in relation to our school.
Please send ‘Show and Tells’ on the allocated date as time has been specifically set aside for this. Should Wednesday be busy, then slots will take place as soon as is possible within that week. Do help your child to prepare for their ‘Show and Tell’ slot by practising at home. At this stage in the year, please avoid a fully pre-prepared script, e.g. written sentences or fully scripted PowerPoints. Prompt notes are easier to use and enable your child to talk more freely and naturally. I will always assist if they need support! ‘Show and Tell’ may be based on information about special events, outings or hobbies. Objects may be brought in to show, but try to avoid toys. Between two and five minutes is adequate at this stage, but think carefully about what you want to say!
