Spring Term

Spring Term 2018

Our topics this Spring term are  'Where Did the Wheels on the Bus Go?' and 'How Does Your Garden Grow?' In the first half of this term we will be learning about the history of wheels and how transport has changed over time. We are also learning about different types of journeys. In particular, we have been learning about the journey a letter makes.

Our Counting Books.

In English this term we have written our own counting books and shared them with the Reception children. Our sentences had to contain lots of adjectives and we practised spelling the numbers in words.

The Journey a Letter Makes!

In Geography and English we have been learning about the journey a letter makes. We have been reading lots of letters and have been reading a book called 'Dear Greenpeace'. We now know that letters have certain features such as they can start with 'Dear' and that they need an address on the envelope so that it can be delivered to the correct place.

We wrote or own letters home and walked to the postbox to post them.

We are enjoying learning about fractions and mass in Maths. We have been busy making fraction pizzas and using the balance scales to weigh objects around us.

Computing- We Our TV Chefs!

In Computing we have been using the iPads to record ourselves presenting a TV cooking show. We have been taking it in turns to be the presenter, director and camera person and learning how to use the iPad to record and make our own programmes.

Science- Materials.

We have been learning about different types of materials and their properties. We had great fun building a waterproof house for the 3 little pigs to live in. Here we are, testing the materials we chose to see if they are waterproof.

We have also been learning about seeds and how plants grow. We had great fun planting our own potatoes, sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

Easter Eggstravaganza!

We have had a wonderful Spring term! On the last day we celebrated Easter by making bonnets at home for our Easter bonnet assembly. Year 1 & 2 were very lucky because the Easter Bunny came to visit us and left behind lots of eggs for us to find!
