Summer Term


Reading books will be changed twice a week, please make sure that you send your child's reading book into school every Monday and Thursday to be change. 

A teacher or Teaching Assistant will listen to your child read on a fortnightly basis during 1:1 reading and weekly during group reading sessions. At home, please read daily with your child and please continue to write comments in their reading diaries to facilitate communication between home and school regarding your child’s reading.



Homework will set each Thursday via our ClassDojo. This will include spellings and times tables to learn, English (Vocabulary Laboratory) and Maths which will be set via mymaths.  Homework should be submitted to Mrs. Brogan by the following Wednesday via the ClassDojo. 

Spellings and times tables will be tested every Wednesday in school.



During the Summer Term, our PE days will be Tuesday and Fridays. Please come to school in your PE kits on those days. 

PE on Tuesday will be focussing on ball skills with Joe Brown and Friday continues with Mr. Barnes. 



In the first half term we will be building on the learning that has taken place so far. Here we will be looking at writing a diary, quest adventures, fiction stories, non fiction and poetry.  


We are now looking at the Year 2 curriculum for Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. Here the children have explored nouns, verbs and adjectives as well as conjunctions and different suffixes. The children have also looked at expanded noun phrases, adverbs and possessive apostrophes. 


Maths - We use Maths No Problem following the National Curriculum enhancing this with active maths lessons. 


Computing - Programming 2: Scratch Jr

Here we explore what ‘blocks’ do, using the app ‘ScratchJr,’ by carrying out an informative cycle of predict > test > review, programme a familiar story and an animation of an animal, make their own musical instrument by creating buttons and recording sounds and follow an algorithm to record a joke. 


Art - Sculpture and Mixed Media (Theme: Superheroes) 

Here we explore sculpture, pop art, drawing to portray emotions and taking inspiration from the works of Roy Lichtenstein. 


D&T - Textiles: Pouches 

Learn how to sew a running stitch ready to design, make and decorate a pouch using a template.


Geography - Where would you prefer to live: Africa or England? (Summer first half) 

                      At the Seaside (Summer second half) 


Religious Education How should we care for others and the world, and why does it matter? 


Music - Trafford Music services follow a fabulous scheme called 'Charanga.' 


French - Gulay (our French language assistant) delivers French each Friday. 


Science - Our topic for the summer term is living things and their habitats. Looking at habitats and micro habitats and different food chains.
