Tuesday 14th July 2020
Good morning everyone! Have a lovely day.
Your tasks for today are as follows…
Maths: problem solving
Continue to spend about 10 minutes each day working on your times tables on TTRS or hit the button in order to keep them fluent and up to the speeds and accuracy we have worked so hard to achieve.
After that, use the link below to find today’s lesson on problem solving. Work through the different problems, solving each at a time. They get progressively harder as you work through them. Answers are provided at the end for you to self-mark your answers.
Well-being: dance
For today’s well-being activity, have a go at learning the dance to Rain On Me by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. I promised lots of you (Kirsty, Mia and Tilly in particular!) that I will put together an end of year video of you doing it in the last week for those of you who want to join in! Get practising now and we can film it next week…
Science: balancing sculptures
Your additional lesson today is science. Start by watching the video below on balancing sculptures…
To complete today’s science lesson, you will need a plastic bottle filled with water, a large blob of sticky tack or modelling clay and 2 wooden skewers. You should then start by breaking off a piece of skewer about 2-3cm in length. Stick this short piece of skewer into a blob of sticky tack/modelling clay. Now try to balance this, skewer end down on the lid of your plastic bottle… Pretty impossible!?
Think about how you can make it balance by experimenting with the following:
Discuss how you were able to make your structure balance and why you think this works.
Have a lovely day, and I will see most of you at school tomorrow.
