Tuesday 28th April 2020
Good morning everyone! I hope you are all ok and that you are keeping busy at home. I have now completely moved – we spent yesterday emptying and cleaning our flat and have now given the keys back! It is very strange to move out and leave the flat, but also really exciting. I am surrounded by so many boxes – I nearly couldn’t find my laptop! I am also very pleased to have a garden as we didn’t at the flat…unfortunately the nice sunny weather seems to have disappeared a little, but I’m hoping it will be back soon!
Your tasks for today are as follows…
Maths: short and long multiplication
Continue to spend about 10 minutes working on your times tables on TTRS or hit the button in order to keep them fluent and up to the speeds and accuracy we have worked so hard to achieve.
After that, use the link below to find today’s lesson on short and long multiplication. Work through the examples and then solve the questions on the pdf worksheets. The first worksheet involves multiplying by one digit (easy for you but good to recap!) and then the second worksheet is multiplying by two digit numbers (don’t forget your ‘eggy zero’ when multiplying by the tens digit!). The answers are provided for you to self-mark once you have finished.
English: commas, brackets and dashes
Continue working on your spellings as needed.
In addition, for today’s main English task, follow the link below to work through the exercises on commas, brackets and dashes.
Well-being: quiz time!
To keep your minds healthy and positive, remember to complete your daily well-being activity where possible. For today’s well-being activity, have a go at this quiz I did with my family on Sunday evening. Can you guess which celebrities are hiding behind their PPE? I will provide the answers tomorrow!
Your topic tasks for this week…
I will get a new chilli challenge task sheet to you over the next few days which will provide you with topic tasks for the next two weeks. While I finish completing that, here is a topic task for you to complete today while you wait…
Follow the link below to a music lesson on singing with feeling. I know, as a year group, you are very good singers and really enjoy it. There are often comments from other teachers in the staffroom about how good Year 6 are at singing and that you all really stand out for it! Have a go at the lesson. Hopefully we will be able to hear those lovely voices of yours in an end-of-year production – I am keeping my fingers crossed for that!
There are lots of other lessons available for you on the bbc website too, so please feel free to do those if you would like to. There are a few history lessons on the Ancient Egyptians, geography lessons and a science lesson on space! These aren’t our set topics and you may have covered them already in previous year groups, but there’s no reason why you can’t continue your learning in these areas.
Don’t forget to keep up your work with Joe Wicks or another form of exercise of your choice if possible. Keeping active and healthy will be the best way to fight off the virus.
