Welcome to Year 4
We have had an extremely busy term with lots of things going on both in and out of school. We started with a trip to Chester as part of our Roman Topic. Here you can see us marching around the streets of Chester!
We have lots of fun in Maths, especially working in groups or partners. Here you can see what we have been up too!
In Literacy we have just finished Learning all about 'Fantasy Stories'. Our focus book was James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. There was lots of opportunity for story writing, character descriptions and imaginative ideas. Everybody enjoyed the story and we even got to watch the film as a comparison.
In Science we have been learning all about 'Keeping Warm'. We have used lots of equipment to help with our experiments. Here you can see us using a thermometer and investigating different temperatures.
This term our topic is 'Rivers'. We will be learning about local rivers but also famous rivers around the world. We will learn about the key features of a river and have the opportunity for a River Study on our residential to Grasmere.
In Science we will be learning all about Solids and Liquids. We will investigate how to separate a solid from a liquid and the differences between the two.
In Literacy we are looking at stories from different cultures, with an emphasis on India to link in with our RE Buddhism topic.
In Numeracy we will revist and expand on everything learnt last term to reinforce our learning. We will begin with place value and column addition and subtraction.
