Welcome to Year 6
Summer Term
Now the SATs are over , it's back to work for Year 6 to get prepared for secondary school and finish off our Primary curriculum. This half term in Science we will be looking at reversible and irreversible changes, and micro-organisms ; in DT we will be making commemorative cushions and practising our sewing skills; in PHSE we will be thinking about relationships; in RE we will continue with our topic of Buddhism; in ICT we will be designing and producing a year book to remind us of our time at Cloverlea.
Preparation for our production is underway and it is sure to be a fantastic show!
On the 11th June we are off to Robinwood Activity Centre for three days and we will upload our pictures when we return.
Year 6 finished their SATs in style with a super party which included: dancing, limbo, a piñata and lots of yummy food! Take a look at us enjoying ourselves.
On the 11th March Year 6 had a fantastic day when we had a visit from an Air Raid Precaution warden who took us back in time to find out exactly what it was like during World War 2. We got the opportunity to handle rare artefacts, learn about lots of interesting facts and carry out some role play. Take a look at our super gallery of photographs below.
Year 6 had a super day out at the Winter Olympics Festival at Silver Blades Altrincham on 12th February and our competitors in the ice hockey, figure skating and speed skating performed extremely well. Our speed skaters came back with a medal each to the delight of the supportive crowd.
Year 6 have been learning to skate in preparation for a Winter Olympic Festival on the 12th February.
Have a look at our latest pictures from the 6th February! The class persuaded Mrs Djennati, Mrs Smith and Mrs Mollard to have a go on the ice. Watch out Jane Torville-you may have a little competition!
Sports Leadership Workshop
On Tuesday 21st January Year 6 took part in a sports leadership workshop morning with visiting coach Lee Myers. We learned about the skills necessary to become good leaders and we had great fun too. We also found out about the importance of team work.Have a look at our activities in the photos below.
Spring Topic World War 2
For the spring term we are learning about World War 2 and what it was like in Britain at that time. We are starting to work on propaganda posters and when we have completed them we will add them to the website. We found out about some of the leaders involved in the war and created horrible history style fact booklets about them. We decorated our front covers to make them attractive.
